Snippets from great reviews on the new Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness platform releases:

    4 out of 5

“It’s obvious that Zeboyd has a winner both in the RPG fundamentals as well as the outrageous tale weaved throughout the game.”

“There’s a lot to love and enjoy in this outing.”

“While Episode 3 continues the story of the previous games, familiarity with the rest of the series is thankfully not required in order to enjoy the narrative of this sequel.”

“I’m a big fan of the story and pacing, which moves at a good, quick pace with little in terms of meaningless exploration.”

“I absolutely love the new art style with its use of a classical sprite style,  … I’m also a fan of the music, which has its share of both catchy and introspective tunes.”

“An awesome iOS RPG and a wondrous melding of classic and not-so-classic mechanics. When you add in the engrossing story, there’s little to not like about the fundamentals in Episode 3. If you’re even the least bit curious about traversing New Arcadia, I say hurry up already and take the plunge.”

4 out of 4 (Must Play!)

“Gabe, Tycho and the other members of the Startling Developments Detective Agency all seem right at home on our little devices.”

“Penny Arcade’s On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 3 is an awesome love letter to videogames and the people who love playing them. Buy it, play it, love it.”

“Fantastic retro graphics and music; great sense of humor; silly yet fun story; deep combat and class system; good controls.”

“The combination of Zeboyd and Penny Arcade seems so obvious now that it’s a wonder it hasn’t happened sooner.”

“Everyone should really give this game a shot. The story is awesome, the characters are great, and everything about the game exudes fun, imagination, and a deep love for the genre. There’s very little about this game we didn’t like, and whole heck of a lot that we did.”

Penny Arcade’s “On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 3” Now Available for
iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Select Android Platforms, and Mac
With bonus content!  “Lair of the Seamstress” DLC built in to new platforms, free add-on for PC and Xbox

October 25, 2012 – Seattle, WA – Penny Arcade’s “On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 3” releases today for iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Android and Mac, following from its earlier availability on PC and Xbox.  The game, which chronicles the saga of Apocalyptic Studies scholar Tycho Brahe, and his volatile, probably entirely human partner Jonathan Gabriel, now includes the “Lair of the Seamstress” DLC.  This brutal bonus dungeon features unique mechanics designed to test players, and find them wanting.

In the ever escalating perils on the increasingly Rain-Slick Precipice, Gabe and Tycho encounter a cunning evil Doctor, a series of Unexplainable Thefts, a Mysterious Book of Power, Enigmatic Supernatural Forces, Hobo Kings, Roboids, and more!

Joystiq calls the game “An easy recommendation” and Wired.com’s review says it’s “Filled with quality.”  The new platform releases announced today will, no doubt, inspire people to say even
    nicer things.

Zeboyd Games, the creators of “Cthulhu Saves the World” and “Breath of Death VII: The Beginning”, have developed the game with Penny Arcade.  Zeboyd’s stylized pixel-visuals and inspirations from all-time classic RPGs have come to define their games.  The new Rain-Slick Precipice game builds from the visual style established by Penny Arcade’s Mike Krahulik, and Jerry Holkins has collaborated closely with Zeboyd’s Robert Boyd and Bill Stiernberg on the story and script.  TinkerHouse Games, which partnered with Zeboyd on the iOS and Android releases for “Cthulhu Saves the World”, has taken on the new platform adaptations for “On the Rain-Slick Precipice Darkness 3” as well.

The game’s website (found at http://www.rainslickgame.com) has information and links for downloading the game on all platforms.  This new DLC, as well as the next one, are available at no additional charge for any version of the game.

    July 27th, 2012

From today’s post at Penny Arcade:

“We’ve added Gender-Swapped versions of all player characters.  Our engine doesn’t allow for name changes or on-the-fly-pronoun shifts, but of course that couldn’t keep me from renaming them.  Purely for headcanon purposes, this Tycho is called Tyche, this Gabe is called Gabbie, this Moira is Manuel, and this Jim is Benjamina.  I can’t take credit for all the names; there’s a substantial community invested in this concept, and I saw no reason to crowd out their excellent work.

In the “bone” I alluded to for Furs, you can also choose the Furry pack.  This makes substantial genetic alterations to the party, rendering Tycho as a Lion, Gabe as a Pony, Moira as an American Red Fox and Jim as a Turtle.  This pack and the other one also alter the party in cutscenes, which was a bit of extra work on Zeboyd’s part but makes them very cool for doing it.

It’ll be coming to the XBLIG version later, peer review being what it is, but it’s available on Steam now.”
